~How Pinterest Can Help Find You A Home~

Chances are, you have at least heard the name Pinterest if you are not already obsessed over it, although you may not know  how it can play a large part in your home buying experience.

For many homeowners this site helps streamline planning for home projects.  For agents and even builders it can be used to understand and connect with you on what your wants and needs are regarding your processes, resources, and more!

What is Pinterest?
This is the definition of the social networking platform according to the Pinterest website:

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. To get started, request an invite.

What is a pinboard?
Think of it as a bulletin board that you thumb tack important information to- but online.  You find things you like on the web and “pin” them to your own pinboard. Sure beats the days of ripping out magazine pages, creating stacks of paper everywhere, doesn’t it?

For example, I created a pinboard called “Kitchen Space” where I “pin” images that I would love to have in my dream kitchen someday. The “pin” is shown via an image or thumbnail taken from a particular  website . My followers (people who are following my pinboards) can see that image and decide to “like,” “comment,” or “re-pin” it to their own board.

As an agent I would look over your pinboards to get an idea of what style you are drawn to.  Or, you can start pinboards for each room in the house and pin ideas to it for future projects, decorating ideas or a honey do list 🙂

This is what my Dream Kitchen Board looks like:

Yes, it is as simple as that. You can find a more detailed explanation by clicking here

I just worked with a client who pinned everything her heart desired and shared it with me.  When we went out looking at houses we were able to hit more of the look and feel of what she wanted from the beginning.  She said it was “as if I had been living in her head, the homes were totally what she was looking for”.

Save time, follow new trends, get great ideas, and get organized!  Give Pinterest a try!  I think it’s great and so do many of our Clients!
