There are some great articles out there on what to do and what not to do when moving. Packing for a move is never a fun experience, but unpacking is some how even worse. After a day of hauling things around, you just want to be able to find what you need and settle into your new home. With these simple tricks, and some great articles I have found online, we hope your next move will be the easiest, most organized move you’ve ever had.
1. Use Paper Plates – Stacking paper or Styrofoam plates in between your actual plates is a cheap and easy way to make sure they don’t break in transport.
2. A Good Labeling System- Consider labeling each room a different color or label based on the importance of the items inside.
3. Store Stemware in Wine Boxes -Glasses and stemware are among the most delicate items to move. Keep them safely tucked inside a wine box that has divided sections for each. This option is usually free, as most liquor stores will just give old boxes to you.
4. There’s an App For That- If you have gone paperless or are prone to misplacing things, download an app such as “Moving Day” to help keep your move organized.
4. Take A Photo of Electronics – You think that you will for sure remember exactly how your electronics are set up, but at the end of a long day of moving you’re going to get frustrated dealing with all those cables. Save yourself the headache and take a photo of the set up before you unplug it all.
5. Keep The Door Open – When your hands are full, the last thing that you want to do is to struggle with a doorknob. Simply use a rubber band to hold down the latch bolt to make the door easy to open one-handed.
