Scandinavian Starter Home

Episode 6 has officially aired and I couldn’t be more excited to share the details with you! This home was one of my favorite renovations that we did this season. We called it “Scandinavian Minimalist” for its relaxed European charm mixed with its overall spacious and minimal feel.

One of the most unique features about the home is that it is under 1000 sf, so we knew we were going to have to find creative ways to enhance the layout and make it feel larger. Right from the start, I knew this home was perfect for a first time home buyer or young buyer and the Scandinavian style throughout would reel them in.

The trickiest part of the renovation was figuring out where to put the refrigerator. We wanted to place it in such a way that would make the kitchen feel larger, without making it feel too crammed. We ended up moving it onto a wall that was previously used for a small table. In the end, it was an absolute win and allowed us to keep the space open as planned.

Staging the living room was hands down one of my favorite parts of this renovation! Shocker, I know. The way the natural light poured in from the large front window made bringing an abundance of plants into the space feel so right. Adding mixed textures that were neutral in color made the space warm and inviting without taking away the minimalist vibe we set out for. And let’s not forget that pop of pink at the door!

I was so glad to read comments about you guys loving the laundry room! It was really a trial and error process figuring out how the stencil would work best in there. Leslie and our assistant at the time, Stephani, spent two whole days perfecting that beautiful floor.
