Better than New Rustic Comfort Reno

Here we are, Episode TEN—that means we are just one week away from the season 1 finale of Unsellable Houses! What fun it’s been re-watching the last year unfold on TV.

With this episode, we hit a couple challenges due to snowy weather…as you would expect in mid-December—well, sort of! Snow this heavy is not all that common in our area. The storm conveniently hit right in the middle of our 3.5 week transformation while we were doing critical work on site. The cabinets that we ordered for the kitchen were delayed so we had to manage our time best around that.

For this home, I started with the tile backsplash in the kitchen as my inspiration and built the rest of the design around it. We tore down the wall that was dividing the kitchen and dining spaces to offer a more open layout that would be more appealing to the buyer.

I know Leslie made a big deal about roosters…but the rooster pillows in this shot are Leslie APPROVED! Aren’t they fun?

The kitchen was nothing special when we started, so we were really able to start from scratch and it ended up becoming an absolute dream. I loved that we were able to enhance the space with shiplap to pull in that rustic charm.

You’ve seen these gorgeous frames in a couple of our Unsellable Houses now! They are a great accent piece in a room like this one if you aren’t looking to hang a TV on the wall.

The cooler tones in this bedroom set were a perfect match for this master bedroom. We decided to add a sliding barn door, bringing privacy between the bedroom and the bathroom.

Pro Tip: Adding a sliding bar door to a room in your home is very appealing to today’s buyers and can increase the value of your home!

This master bathroom also needed some added flare. We swapped out the floors for a fun stenciled tile and put shiplap above the vanity. The results were stunning!

That’s a wrap for our Rustic Comfort transformation! Can’t wait for you guys to see the results for next week’s episode. I think it’s going to be your favorite one yet.
