Home + Life

Day in the Life with Leslie

We are so excited to announce that we will be back for season 3! Eek! We can not wait to show you all of the beautiful homes we have been working on, but in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to bring you along for a “day in the life” while filming. Keep in mind, this is not what my day is like every day, but it is a pretty good example of what it looks like a lot of the time.

6:00– Wake up. The mornings are my time. When I wake up, I usually start a pot of coffee (obviously) and change into my workout gear. I try to do a 30-minute Peloton workout in the morning before the kids get up. I have noticed that it gives me a lot more energy, makes me feel better, and really, it is so much easier to do a workout when the kids and Jake are not awake. After I start to get myself ready, I call Lyndsay to make sure she is also starting to wake up. I am definitely the morning person out of the two of us, and with our morning phone call we can go over our daily schedule, where we will be filming, what outfits we need, are there any store shipments coming in, or anything else that we might need to know about that day. While we are on the phone together, I go downstairs and start to make breakfast with everyone. We are big eggs and bacon people in our house, and I love how fast and easy they are to make for three growing boys!

7:30– It’s time to get Cole onto the bus. Luckily Kyler and Cash, are older and have really taken over getting themselves ready for their school day, but there are still those common, “have you seen this or that?” (normal mom things), but for Cole, I still pack his lunch once we get breakfast, and help to make sure he has everything he needs for the day ahead as well. I also use this time to pack up whatever I need for the office, and of course, let Mookie out and have him fed. I am lucky enough to have Coles bus stop on the way to the office, making for an easy transition into work.

8:00– I try to get to the office before we are filming as often as I can. I make myself available for any agents or other staff that might need help with their listings. I also use this time to check in on inventory and make sure we have everything ready for our Unsellable Houses and our regular clients. During this time, I also check and reply to emails, double-check our staff calendar, and usually have about a dozen phone calls to make.

9:00- 1:00 – by 9:00, I am already leaving the office and headed to our first shoot location. From 9:00 to 1:00, we are moving from home to home. Not just filming, but meeting with contractors, painting, or just doing whatever needs to be done for a home renovation. Lyndsay usually has a list of things that needs to be done that she gives me as soon as I see her. One of the things that I think shocks people is that we do not work on one house at a time, but we usually have anywhere between 3-5 homes going at once, so there are a lot of moving parts to keep an eye on.

1:00-1:30– LUNCH. Yep. Food is one of my love languages.

1:30 – 6:00 – Once lunch is finished, we start filming again! We are still bouncing between multiple locations during the afternoon shooting, but this is also the time that we have to take a majority of our business meetings. During filming, our brokerage and store do not stop. So, we are constantly having meetings with prospective off-air clients, working with our agents on their own listings, and talking to vendors. This might mean that we are bouncing back and forth to the office, or we might be taking zoom calls in the car. We are hustling at all times, and we are moving nonstop.

6:30– To practice, I go! All three of my boys are multi-sport athletes, so as soon as I get out of work, it is off to lacrosse, football, or a motocross event. I love getting to watch the boys play, and I am so lucky that our work is so close to the community my kids are growing up in, so I can see them as soon as I am off. When I get off, I can go and watch the boys practice a little and then head home with them.

7:00– Finally home! By the time I am home with the boys, we are in full relaxation mode! I am so lucky that Jake likes to cook dinner, so we can have dinner together when we first get home. After dinner, Jake and I tag-team the boys’ homework and start winding down for the night. I usually take this time that the boys are working on the homework to reply to more emails, and Lyndsay and I will usually get back onto the phone to go over the projects we worked on that day and go over what our “must do” items are coming up!

8:30- 11:30–  I try to be unplugged from my phone. I usually take this time to sit on the couch and relax with my family before it is time to get the kids ready and off to bed. Once the kids go to bed, I have a little “me” time. I try to catch up on my favorite shows, and then I will finally make my way over to my bed, and I usually end my by reading a few chapters in my book, and then just off to sleep to do it all again the next day!
