Unsellable Houses

Unsellable Houses Season 1 Recap!

It’s almost here! Season 2 of Unsellable Houses premieres on Tuesday at 9pm ET/PT!

We can’t wait to share all the fun designs and adventures we have for you this season! But first we want to look back at some of our favorite episodes and designs from Season 1.

Ready?! Let’s go!

1 | Road House to Show House

We had such a blast adding a show-stopping twist to a traditional shiplap wall! So many people doubted our idea to paint the wall black, but with sconces and the right décor, it became the highlight of the home!

2 | Condo Cleanup

It’s the two-butt kitchen! We added new life to this tiny condo kitchen with herringbone gray tile and some super easy lumber shelves. Finish it off with some greenery and we created a stunning, modern look that buyers loved!

3 | Moving Sale Makeover

The best décor is the item you can style in unexpected ways! In this house, we took an old wood ladder and incorporated it into the dining room light fixture. It’s a one-of-a-kind piece with a lot of charm!

4 | Rental Property Reno

This kitchen needed some cosmetic work, so we added some sleek subway tiles, shiny new countertops, and—wait for it—green cabinets! The earthy green color adds life and vibrance to the space and creates a functional focal point within the great room area.

5 | Starter Home Transformation

This one just worked! We had fun with colors, textures, and contrast by painting the entry awning and door trim black while sprucing up the front door with a coat of light pink. It’s a sophisticated, modern fun!

6 | Empty Nest Turned Family Retreat

We’ve never been ones to shy away from patterns (if you don’t believe us, just wait for Season 2!). In this house, we used wallpaper to add intrigue and character to built-in nooks and bookcases throughout the house. Such a win!

7 | Rough Rambler Reno

So, green is a fantastic color. We live in the Evergreen State, just up the road from the Emerald City. We can’t resist the vibrant splash it makes in any room. In this renovation, we went for a classic subway tile kitchen backsplash, but in emerald green. Add in the wood countertops and industrial fixtures, and this kitchen became a room the new homeowners will never want to leave!

8 | Split-Level Struggle

In a home, we believe form and function should always work together! Everything functional can be beautiful, especially a range hood! Here, we created a chic modern farmhouse kitchen with a wood-rapped range hood. The thing is gorgeous!

9 | Better Than New

We had such fun time taking this dated house elevating it with rustic charm. We leaned into prominent wood accents in the kitchen and dining rooms. From architectural features (like a support beam and the kitchen island) to décor choices (like the dining table and decorative crates), this house killed it with the rustic chic style!

10 | Lake House Update

This dated lake house came back to life when we gave it a modern industrial makeover! With clean white walls and black painted millwork, the beams and trims became stunning statement pieces that pulled the whole space together perfectly!

Wow! So many fun projects to look back on! We’ve got 13 all new Unsellable Houses episodes to show you starting this Tuesday, at 9 PM ET/PT on HGTV!
